The “UNITO for Students at Risk” scholarships for the academic year 2024-2025 are now open for applications, aiming to support students who hold a residence permit for various forms of international protection.
The University of Torino is committed to fostering an inclusive academic environment by providing ten (10) annual scholarships. These scholarships are for students who have been granted asylum, refugee status, subsidiary protection, special protection, or temporary protection due to humanitarian emergencies. The ten annual scholarships will be divided as follows:
- Four scholarships for undergraduate programs with free admission:
- Global Law and Transnational Legal Studies (English)
- Languages and Modern Cultures for Tourism (Italian)
- Modern Languages and Literatures (Italian)
- Six scholarships for postgraduate programs with free admission in Italian or English.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Applicants must be born after 1 January 1995
- Hold a residence permit for international protection, special protection, temporary protection due to humanitarian emergencies in Ukraine, or another form of protection according to Italian immigration laws, issued in Italy since 2018
- Hold a foreign qualification eligible for enrolment in the 2024/2025 academic year for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at the University of Turin
- Have submitted an application on the Apply@UniTo platform by the specified deadlines
- Students transferring from other Italian universities or changing courses within UniTo are not eligible to apply.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Copy of the passport page certifying the applicant’s identity
- Copy of the residence permit or the positive outcome of the interview with the Territorial Commission for asylum or subsidiary protection holders who have not received their permit yet
- Motivational letter in Italian or English
- Curriculum vitae et studiorum
- Foreign qualification and documentation certifying completed studies (with certified translation if necessary)
- Self-certification of language knowledge or a language certification of at least level B1 (BEC Vantage, FCE and C, IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Trinity College ISE II;)
- Apply@unito ID number

Selection Process and Criteria
The selection process involves:
- Assessment by Scholarship Award Committee: Eligible applicants will be evaluated based on their qualifications and interviews.
- Preliminary Rankings: Separate rankings will be created for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Exclusion Criteria: Ineligible qualifications for the Italian university system will automatically be excluded.
- Preference Criteria: Regarding tied scores, preference will go to female and younger applicants.
