The MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship recognizes the extraordinary potential of women in the sciences and aims to address gender inequality in STEM fields. Women majoring in computer engineering, nuclear science, and software development often face significant challenges in securing funding for their education. This scholarship program seeks to empower these women by providing financial support and highlighting their role as future leaders and innovators.
MPOWER Financing is committed to enabling talented female students to study and work in North America, thus closing the gender gap in the STEM workforce. Eligibility Criteria
You must meet the following requirements:
- Be accepted or enrolled in a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school supported by MPOWER.
- Be an international student or DACA recipient legally allowed to study in the U.S. or Canada.
- For study in the U.S.: Valid visa, DACA status, or U.S. permanent resident.
- For study in Canada: Canadian permanent resident or valid Canadian study permit.
- Must not be a U.S. or Canadian citizen studying in their respective countries.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and female.

Selection Process and Criteria
Below are the selection process and criteria:
- Initial Screening: MPOWER staff and contractors screen applications for eligibility and basic English writing ability.
- First-Round Review: Eligible applications are reviewed based on clarity of thought, superior writing skills, and compelling goals and vision.
- Second Round Review: A panel of judges will evaluate the top 10 applications on a scale of 1-5 across four criteria:
- Quality of the applicant’s written essays
- Record of academic and professional distinction
- Potential to contribute in a STEM field
- Advocate for women in STEM and track record as a role model
- Final Selection: Judges may conduct interviews with finalists. The CEO makes the final selection decision.
- Verification: MPOWER verifies eligibility and requires winners to submit a Release form. Scholarship funds are disbursed directly to the winner’s school.

- Write an essay (200-500 words) on prioritizing advancements in STEM over the next decade and how women can lead or contribute significantly to these changes.
